What is a fetid essence in Terraria? ›

Fetid Essences were Pre-Hardmode crafting materials that were dropped by Devourers and World Feeders in The Corruption. They were used to craft the Blood Relic, Guide Voodoo Doll, and the Corrupt Flask. They were the Corruption counterpart to Bloodletting Essences.

The Old Duke can be spawned by finishing the Acid Rain event after Polterghast is defeated, appearing from a giant sulphurous tornado. It can also be summoned by fishing in the Sulphurous Sea with a Bloodworm post Moon Lord.

Shimmer is a shiny, pearlescent liquid found in the Aether, a mini-biome which generates in the Underground or Cavern layer, always on the same side of the world as the Jungle. It has a variety of effects on different items and NPCs, triggered through contact. Shimmer is the only liquid that cannot be fished in.

The Golden Shower is a Hardmode magic weapon that fires an arching piercing golden stream, similar to the Aqua Scepter. The Golden Shower fires three times per click, each stream can pierce up to eight enemies, and the player can change the direction of aim between these sprays.

Fetid Offering

"Invigorates the Watchers, making them more treacherous than normal, but also making them worthy prey for a special hunt." Requires Sage's Wrist or Sage's Hair. A red aura appear on several enemies that boost its owner stats.

Shimmer is a shiny, lavender-colored pearlescent liquid, and by far the rarest liquid in the game. A limited amount can be found in the Aether, a rare mini-biome which generates once per world in the Cavern layer, always on the same half of the world as the Jungle.

Purification Powder is able to revert any Corrupted or Crimson Blocks, but not walls, back into their pure form, such as reverting Ebonstone into Stone or Crimsand into Sand. It is purchased from the Dryad for 75each, while Blood Moon is not active.

The Fetid King acts as some sort of living computer virus. He makes his way through the digital realm, looking for a suitable device to infect and manifest from. Once he manages to infect a device, it is already too late, as he will slowly destroy it from the inside and eventually manifest into the physical world.
